Andrew worked for two Private Chartered Quantity Surveying Practices prior to joining Quantum in February 2002. Andrew’s initial experience was gained in pre and post contract work in the construction sector. He began his quantity surveying career preparing Bills of Quantities and Schedules of Work and became a Chartered Surveyor in 1999. As his career advanced he moved to a private practice which specialised in insolvency work, contractor & sub-contractor support and dispute resolution. Progressing to director at Quantum in 2006, he is a managing surveyor for contracting organisation clients and has refined skills in dispute resolution.
With a Postgraduate Diploma in Arbitration in 2005, Andrew works with companies of varying sizes from small sub-contractors to regional & national main contractors and blue chip international construction and industrial companies. Over the last decade Andrew has worked increasingly on international projects and has been involved in numerous Arbitrations, Adjudications, mediations and litigations in the UK, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Being based in the UK gives the flexibility to advise Clients in connection with its disputes within whichever country the disputes exist.
With Quantum since 1999, Stephen has a thorough and varied background in Contracting, Private Practice and Consulting. A Chartered Quantity Surveyor since 1994 with deep experience of construction management having worked within both main contractor and sub-contractor organizations. His career development has provided him with a sound appreciation of business commerce and Contract and Company Law. At Quantum, Stephen applies these skills to manage Client assignments, whether they involve acting as expert or managing the in-house team in providing quantity surveying services. Stephen balances the art of businessman and advocate to ensure that each Client receives the highest quality of service.

Mike has almost 40 years construction experience in main contracting, sub-contracting, professional practice and consultancy. Senior posts held include technical director, directorship of medium-sized civils contractor/sub-contractor, senior partner of own professional/consultancy practice, assistant director of contracts/commercial consultancy, senior consultant at a regional office of a multi-national contracts consultancy, assistant to commercial director on major oil export facility in Nigeria and claims manager in defence / counterclaim to US$0.25 billion EPIC contractor claim on expansion of offshore Gulf oilfield.
Overseas experience includes working in Germany, Belgium, Algeria, Nigeria, Angola, South Africa, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, India, Republic of China, Malaysia and Singapore. Hon.Sec. of the NW Branch of the CIARB and also a CEDR-accredited mediator, a RICS-registered adjudicator and RICS-registered expert witness with substantial experience in professional negligence claims. Mike also currently holds the position of Chairman of the Investigation Panel for the Professional Conduct Committee at the CIOB and is a Member of the Ethics, Conduct and Consumer Protection Committee of the RICS. Mike also occasional writes articles for the Chartered Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors’ Journal.
Barry has over 20 years’ experience of commercial and contractual management and dispute resolution. Now, Barry brings his enthusiasm and calm positive determination from working at Director level in private practice and contracting organisations to our Clients at Quantum. Trained in a variety of disciplines including the law, negotiation, marketing, arbitration, quantity surveying and engineering. He is a CEDR Accredited Mediator, an Expert Witness with Law Society approval, and is a panel Adjudicator with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
You may have seen and met Barry at a construction industry lecture, since he is also an experienced presenter of training seminars. In recent years Barry has been the pioneering driving force behind Streetwise Subbie, a sub-contractor collective providing advice and guidance to specialist sub-contractors of all sizes. The founder of Streetwise Subbie, Barry has developed a subscription service and internet community providing advice in marketing, business development and dispute avoidance.
Jonathan is a chartered quantity surveyor and fellow of the chartered institute of arbitrators, having commenced his career as a quantity surveyor in the mid eighties he went on to attain post graduate qualifications in both construction dispute resolution and project management.
Whilst Jonathan is still regularly commissioned as a project manager and employer's agent on construction and engineering projects to £30m, he advocates adjudications, provides expert witness services within the UK jurisdiction, provides dispute resolution advice internationally and has 25 years experience consulting within the construction industry. Jonathan's clients range from national food retailers to international employers, contractors and subcontractors.
A qualified professional, Stephen has nearly 40 years’ experience in the commercial management of construction and support services contracts and has worked as head of department or at board level for a number of contracting organisations. He has significant experience in the winning and profitable delivery of contracts encompassing building, civil engineering and facilities management.
For most of his career, Stephen has carried board responsibility for the commercial management of contracts including joint venture arrangements, introducing and managing processes to ensure the early identification of risk and opportunity. With significant buying experience, including both subcontract and general procurement, Stephen has led the buying function within large contracting organisations. He has both managed and commercially supported many major tenders and has directed successful organisational change programmes.
Now working in Contracts Consultancy, claims and dispute resolution, Stephen recently obtained a Master of Science Degree in Construction Law & Dispute Resolution.
